ABC is an interactive early learning program for Parents/Caregivers & Infants (birth to 18 months). Each session supports an infant’s growth & development through engagement using play based activities.  Designed with a focus on nurturing and building great brains by enhancing a parent’s knowledge on how  they can support this growth through positive parenting practices in everyday life with baby.

ABC will be held at the Family Centre on Mondays, 10-11:30am, for 4 weeks and is structured to include parental information & components to support baby’s growth. The “session themes” are as follows:

  • May 30 – Attachment.

  • June 6 – Sleep.

  • June 13 – Car Seat Safety.

  • June 20 - Feeding Baby.

Participation is limited for each session. This program will happen on Mondays with Tickets to be acquired for attendance. Running for one & 1/2 (1.5) hours. Families can choose to come to one or all of the sessions depending on their interest & time.

A program has been divided into groups for for one to two (1-2) and three to five (3-5) year old children. This music and movement-based group is a way for you and your child to have fun and for your child to master new skills and concepts. These include developing a sense of rhythm, body awareness, communication, social skills, imitation, following directions, and learning to focus on simple tasks.

Each Jump, Jiggle & Jive™ group session is designed to meet your child’s need for repetition and familiarity as wall as to challenge him/her to learn something new. We have attempted to incorporate music from both diverse cultures and in different languages in the group sessions. We encourage you to share your own musical traditions and ideas with your group. We value diversity and look forward to learning from you and your culture. Each group session will also include an idea for an activity that you and your child can try together at home.

The main goal of Jump, Jiggle & Jive™ groups is for parents and caregivers to have fun with their children in a safe and comfortable play space. Since you will be attending group sessions with your child, you are responsible for supervising your child(ren) at all times. This supervision will include:

  • Helping your child as he/she tries out climbing and other movement activities.

  • Assisting your child as needed to participate in activities and make music.

  • Supporting and modelling for your child how she/he can make connections with other children but do not know how to interact.

  • We want to model gentle touch and safe ways of making friends.

  • Do not be alarmed if your child seems awkward or rough – most children eventually learn acceptable ways of making new friends.

We look forward to getting to know you and your child better and hope that you both have wonderful time making music together.
