Welcome to the New Year with Eastern Shore Family Resource! 

As we gear up for another year of programs, initiatives and events we're excited to share important information with you!

We're so thrilled to embark on this new year with you, and we can't wait to make memories together!


 

Semester 2 Program Registration


Registration for Semester 2 Early Learning Programs OPEN January 12th, 2024 at 12:00 pm (Noon). These programs run February - June 2023. They are offered at various locations throughout the Eastern Shore including Porter's Lake, Lawrencetown, and Musquodoboit Harbour.

 

Drop-In Programs


Did you know we offer a ton of great drop-ins alongside our semester programs? Children aged 0-5 and their caregivers are welcome to attend our our two "Play Dates", enjoy some coffee and conversation at "Coffee Connection", use your brain with "Full STEAM Ahead" with the big kids (ages 5-12) or "Explore the Shore" with the whole family!


We are excited to continue expanding our drop-in program offerings and we hope you will take part in the ones we have lined up for this year! 

 

MONDAY 

  • Home School Hobnob: Ages 5-12, 1:00 pm @ ESFRA (bi-weekly).

WEDNESDAY 

  • Gift & Gab: 9:00 - 10:00 am first Wednesday of every month @ ESFRA. 

  • Coffee Connection: Ages 1-5, 10:00 am @ ESFRA. 

THURSDAY

  • Play Dates Are Us, Ages 0-5, 11:00 am @ Marine Drive Pentecostal Church.

SATURDAY

  • Play Dates with Dad: Ages  0-5,  9:00am @ ESFRA.

  • Full Steam Ahead: *NEW: Ages 5-12, 11:00 am @ ESFRA.

  • Explore the Shore *NEW: Families with children up to age 12. Please check our calendar. for exact dates and locations as they may vary (typically end of the month).

Food and Community Initiatives


Let us tell you about our FREE food and community initiatives at ESFRA!

 

"Shore Suppers” & “Greengrocers Wares” are our two main food initiatives that focus on providing healthy and delicious meals and fruit bags for residents of the Eastern Shore (from Lake Echo/Lawrencetown to Lower East Ship Harbour) To take part, simply register for “tickets”, which are required to participate. Ticket holders are able to choose one meal and/or fruit bag once per 5-week rotation! 

 

We are also excited to announce our NEW community initiative ”Go with the Flow” This program will be offered on a bi-monthly basis to provide consistent access to FREE period products to residents of the Eastern Shore!

Upcoming Family Fun Events


In January, join us in celebrating Family Literacy Day in partnership with the Musquodoboit Harbour Public Library! Carnival games, prizes, face painting, button-making, free books and more! Saturday, January 27th @ MHPL from 11am - 2pm.



 Then in February, bring the whole family for a tour of the RCMP station in Musquodoboit Harbour! Saturday, February 24th from 1pm - 2pm (tickets required).




 

Friendly Reminders



  • Footwear – For safety reasons, all participants (adults & children) are required to wear appropriate indoor footwear during programs. Fire Safety Drills will happen randomly plus during rainy/snowy weather, clean footwear keeps our floors dry and safe.


  • Closures (Holiday or Weather) – Our regular programs do not operate on school holidays such as March Break or winter days when schools are closed or buses are not running. Participants are asked if in doubt, to call the Family Centre at (902) 827-1461 or check our Facebook page, before attempting to attend.
