Period Workshop: First Moon Becoming You
Understanding puberty, periods and feelings - Together
Program Description
First Moon Becoming You: Understanding puberty, periods and feelings - Together This gentle, supportive workshop is designed for girls ages 8–12 and their parent &/or caregiver. Parents are encouraged & welcome to join the class with their child/youth or relax in the lounge during the session; however, a parent or caregiver must remain on site at all times. In a comfortable, age-appropriate setting, we will explore the basics of anatomy and physiology, including the menstrual cycle and how it can be understood through the rhythm of the four weeks and the seasons. Participants will build body awareness and learn about the physical changes of puberty in a way that is clear, respectful, and reassuring. We will also gently explore the emotional side of growing up, introducing simple tools for emotional regulation and self-care. The workshop includes gentle yoga practices suited to different phases of the cycle, as well as hands-on exploration of period products so participants can become familiar with their options in a relaxed, supportive environment. Our goal is to help girls feel informed, confident, and supported as they begin to understand their changing bodies — knowing that these changes are natural, normal, and something they don’t have to navigate alone. Each youth will leave with a gift bag to support their menstrual journey. For ages 8-12 with caregivers.
